On 28th September 2023 we bid a fond farewell to Sue Wonnacott. Sue has been a hardworking, valued and longstanding manager of our service and we wish her well in the future. Thank you, Sue.

We welcome Paula Anscomb who joins us as a highly experienced manager working in the charity sector from Tavistock Area Support Services (TASS). Check out our website soon for Paula’s profile. Paula is passionate about supporting you and we have exciting plans for the future. We are all here working hard behind the scenes.

Trips

We have many trips planned. Thanks to us being successful in accessing a grant, the cost of the trips will again be subsidised, £10 for Okehampton and along the route. We may be able to include pick up from other areas if there is enough demand for an extra £2. Please be ready for collection from 9am to ensure the driver is not held up. Please let us know if you need to cancel a trip, don’t wait until we ring you the day before with the pickup time as we have already worked out our route and rung other passengers. Thank you. If you have any suggestions of places then please let us know and we will try and include them.

Community Transport Week

In 2023, Community Transport Week will be held from the 16th – 21st October.

The CT Week is a time to spotlight the incredible efforts of staff, volunteers, drivers, coordinators, and everyone in the CT sector who works tirelessly to provide reliable transportation options for those who face mobility challenges or lack access to conventional modes of transportation. The goal of CT Week is twofold; to raise awareness of the significance of accessible and inclusive transport options for everyone, particularly people in the community, including those with mobility challenges, disabilities, older people, and those with, limited access to private vehicles or conventional public transport.

The second is to celebrate the invaluable efforts of CT providers across the UK who support millions of people across the UK and are using transport to create a more inclusive and connected society.

Please email your answer to the office to ‘what does community transport mean to you?’ so we can anonymously share your stories on social media, online and with our generous funders. Thank you for making a difference in this way.
