Help by Leaving a Legacy

For many years Okehampton District Community Transport Group has been working to support the residents of Okehampton and its surrounds with their transport needs. Many of us take our own transport for granted but independence is threatened once people have to rely on family and friends or an often limited public transport system, to get about. Journeys for shopping, social purposes, medical appointments and all those little things in life that we go out of the house for, are invaluable in maintaining quality of life and wellbeing.

Even as a registered charily, Okehampton District Community Transport Group finds it increasingly difficult to win the funding that it needs to continue its services. Often funders like to be involved in new projects, which we do undertake, but our main ongoing vital services such as the Volunteer Car Service and the disabled accessible Ring & Ride minibus are not so attractive to potential funders.

Many charities now rely on an element of their income being from kind and generous legacies left to them by those who have benefitted from their services in the past and who have a wish to help secure the longer-term future of the organisation.

Legacies of all sizes can play an invaluable role in our work, helping us to secure a brighter future for the residents in our area who need transport to maintain their freedom, independence and wellbeing. For many of our clients the transport that we are able to provide is an absolute lifeline, on which they rely. Any gift, large or small, is extremely welcome. From funding our ongoing work, day in, day out, to enabling enhancements to the services, legacies can help to sustain this invaluable service into the future.

You can make a difference – please do so today!

Many people feel that they would like their presence on earth to leave a positive Impact. Pledging a legacy to charity can enable you to do things you may never have been able to do in your lifetime. It is one of the most positive uses of the money, which is the result of a lifetime’s work.

If you do not already have a Will, it is best to seek the help of a solicitor. Although there will be a fee, you can be sure that you will get the best advice and guidance to ensure that your wishes are achieved.

If you already have a Will, you can support us by simply filling in a codicil, which is a simple one-page form that we can provide, and which is then attached to your Will. It is still advisable to discuss this with your solicitor before completing the codicil.

Can we take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to consider supporting the valuable services of Okehampton District Community Transport Group and your community into the future.
