Newsletter 69

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU

We would like to say ‘Thank You’ to our wonderful volunteers who have continued to drive throughout the pandemic, ensuring everyone was able to access their appointments with all the extra safety measures in place.  We were able to offer transport both for individuals and by a shuttle bus to enable hundreds of people to receive their Covid 19 vaccinations which went extremely smoothly.

We would also like to say ‘Thank You’ to our clients for bearing with us at such a difficult time, working from home has meant that you have often had to leave a message rather than speak to one of us which we know is not as popular!

Another ‘Thank You’ to everyone for your ongoing support, sending us goods for sale and donations which are really gratefully received to enable us to continue to offer the services which we know are appreciated.

100 Club

Thank you for your support which is a great help to ensure our scheme can continue to offer as many people as possible the services they require. Last year we raised £1622 for our funds. You may receive a written or telephone reminder when it is time for you to renew.

Congratulations to the winners of our recent draws –  You can join the 100 Club at any time during the year, just send a cheque, payable to ODCTG for £12 to us at the address below or you can pay by BACS or Standing Order NatWest Okehampton Sort Code 54-21-14 Account No. 22127879 ODCTG

Drivers

We welcome Julie Bailey, Sampford Courtenay, and Helen Garrett, Northlew  to our team.

We are always looking for more volunteers and would particularly like to find someone in the Chagford/Throwleigh/Whiddon Down area and also Lewdown.

We say goodbye to Jenny Morse and Ted Sweet and thank them for their contribution to our services.

Ring and Ride

Our Ring and Ride shopping bus has spare capacity at the moment, particularly on Wednesday (Bridestowe/Lewdown areas £5) and Friday (Halwill area £5) so if you know someone who would like a trip to the supermarket on these days then put them in touch with us.  If you live in Okehampton you can also make use of this service, it is just £3 for the return trip door to door.

Pop up Shop

We have now re-opened the Pop up shop which is in the Terrys Zimmers shop in East Street, which  he has kindly allowed us to use until the shop is sold.  We currently have a good supply of goods for sale, please pop in and have a look and say hello to our volunteers.  We are also looking for offers of help to volunteer for a few hours at a time in the shop so if you are available or know someone who might be able to help us, please get in touch.  If you have any goods you would be willing to donate, please drop into the office as we are taking a few things down at a time when we have space but please ring and make sure one of us will be here when you plan to come.  Thank you.

Coffee Morning

We have booked Okehampton Charter Hall for Saturday 17th July, all being well with the restrictions being lifted.  Further details to follow.
