Thanks to us being successful in accessing a grant, the cost of the trips will again be subsidised, £10 for Okehampton and along the route.  We may be able to include pick up from other areas if there is enough demand for an extra £2.  We will be adding some weekday trips in the future.  Please be ready for collection from 9am to ensure the driver is not held up.  Please let us know if you need to cancel a trip, don’t wait until we ring you the day before with the pick up time as we have already worked out our route and rung other passengers.  Thank you.  If you have any suggestions of places you would like us to include then let us know and we will try and include them.

Community Car Bookings

PLEASE ring and request your transport for hospital appointments as soon as you receive notification, we are having to disappoint more clients as we have not been given enough time to find an available volunteer.  You can ring and leave a message on the answerphone during the late afternoon/evening which then gives us a chance to work on it early in the morning when we return to the office. PLEASE DO NOT ring volunteer drivers direct, their numbers are only provided to you on your appointment day for collection following your appointment.

Office

We are sad to inform you that Liz has decided after 12 years, to retire at the end of May although she has kindly agreed to continue to support us by helping with our fundraising events and car boot sales.  We are currently recruiting and hope to find a suitable replacement soon.  We know that you will join us in wishing her well and will miss her friendly voice on the end of the phone (even though most people are unable to tell our voices apart, we do answer to Sue or Liz!)

Liz would like to invite you to join her at the Church Hall, Market Street, Okehampton on Saturday 4th June from 1pm – 6pm for a Cream Tea, this is to celebrate her 60th birthday, she requests no presents but is asking for a donation for Hospiscare.

Rotary Fair

We will be attending this event in Simmons Park, Okehampton on Sunday 5th June from 11am to 5pm which is part of the Queens Platinum Jubilee celebrations.  Please come along and say hello.

Drivers

We are always looking for more volunteers and would particularly like to find someone in the Chagford/Throwleigh/Whiddon Down area and also Lewdown as we are having to send our drivers long distances to enable these journeys to take place.

Coffee Morning

Thank you to everyone who supported our recent event, we raised £470.68 including extra donations.  Special thanks to Annie and Minnow in the kitchen, our independent stallholders and our helpers including Vera Bray and Abi Westlake, Ann Warren, Graham Harding, Lindsey Harrison and Tom Bowden.

Good Grief Café

This takes place every Wednesday from 11am – 12.30 at Church Hall, Market Street, Okehampton.

Please remember us if you are having a clear out, we are still accepting goods for sale for when we can attend more car boot sales etc.  No clothing, no hardback books please.  We do accept electrical items, paperback books, bric-a-brac, jigsaws, pictures etc.
