Devon County Council 20th Anniversary Awards

Devon County Council have just provided information about this special event, the 20th Anniversary Devon Community Transport Awards which provides a chance to nominate exceptional staff, volunteers and teams.  They have received sponsorship from Pollards Printers.

Over the years we have nominated several volunteers and drivers with some success but we would encourage you to join in this special year and complete a nomination form to raise the profile and sing the praises of the wonderful volunteers who provide the service.  Every year they receive hundreds of nominations and the judges say it is one of their favourite but difficult tasks of the year, selecting the award winners.

This year they have added two new categories to the awards; the first follows direct feedback from smaller Community Transport schemes who told us how difficult it is to pick just one volunteer for an award (NB You can make nominations for more than one volunteer from your organisation!) The ‘Best Team Contribution to the Community’ allows any CT group to sing the praises of all who work to make a service run. The winning nomination will receive prize money of £200. Our second new category is a photography competition! Open to anyone aged 18 or over, we are looking for pictures which capture the essence of what community transport is all about – this could be of passengers, vehicles or anything else which encapsulates the spirit of community transport in action.

Forms and full details on how to make a nomination can be found on the DCC website at:  . We can also email/ print and send information and nomination forms to individuals on request.

The closing date for nominations is midday on Monday 3rd June 2019.

The award ceremony and a delicious buffet will take place with the County Council Chairman for all winners and the person who nominated them on Thursday 18th July in Exeter.   Please help us to make 2019 a special anniversary for Devon Community Transport schemes and nominate your Community Transport Heroes.  The press coverage for events like these help keep Community Transport in the spotlight, particularly helpful when we are requesting funding!
